Guentzel to Carolina possibly in the works

Guentzel to Carolina possibly in the works

  1. This is very bad. Very very bad. But at least we didnt “mortgage” our future lol!!!!

  2. If Pittsburgh was dead-set on getting a roster player back there was never a real chance it was gonna work with us. Guentzel makes a ton of sense for Carolina too considering they’ve got the room to extend him. Will be extremely annoying potentially facing him in the playoffs, but now we pivot that 1st+ over to Buchnevich and get a top RW for 2 runs instead of 1 at a ridiculously cheap cap hit.

  3. I wonder how much the talks with the Rangers were only to drive up the price for Carolina.

  4. i’m all for preserving future assets but the rest of the east is loading up, we need to make a move.

  5. Since when have teams traded for a too forward like Guentzel and win the cup? It sucks he goes to Canes but we have no idea how this works out for them.

  6. lol what a joke of us not going for it
While all other cup contending teams will be firing on all cylinders
We will be leaning forward on our coaches yelling SHOOOT as Mika twirls around and makes snow angles

  7. Im glad he is not coming to us with the rumoured asking price.

I would prefer to go and get someone like Tuch and use 1st plus Othmann+ . A strong player with term that we could extend.

  8. That really hurts. He’s the difference maker we needed.

Drury has to do something to counter the Canes and Panthers

  9. It’s pathetic how mis managed this organization is that finally when a player that you desperately need to help your offense becomes available you can’t make the trade for him.

  10. Sorry but we’re not getting Buch either. He’d cost multiple 1sts and probably Schneider too just based on the value he commands, and there’s 0 chance Drury does that.

He’ll either budge on Vatrano or go cheap and get someone aggressively mid

  11. At this point just swoop in and grab Duclair for a 5th round pick or something. Seems like nobody’s talking about him.

  12. Sucks that he’s going to Carolina, but all things considered, it sucked trading away Tony Amonte in ’94. Yes, we did win a cup, but getting rid of prospects/young players who may (or may not) pan out for a pure rentals is ludicrous. There’s 100x more parity in the NHL, and any team can win a Stanley Cup, and honestly who knows if Guentzel moves the needle enough? He’s coming off LTIR on Sunday; there’s a chance he isn’t 100%, there’s a chance he would be the next Eric Staal here. After decades of absolute clusterfuckery of upper management trading away draft capital and prospects for “win now” players, I’m okay with them not overpaying.

  13. Not gonna cry over missing out on a mid player that Carolina probably overpaid for

  14. Guentzel is/was the best one out there, but I prefer a winger with at least 24-25 on the books. The RW for the BFFs is a problem every year, so why not try to kill two birds with one stone when you’re giving up pretty big assets? No one else is ready for that slot.

  15. Pretty done deal. All the major NHL insiders have it, Bunting was scratched by Carolina before the game.

    It’s a done deal

  16. Good. Glad we didn’t pay the price, especially to the fucking Pens.
