  1. I really wonder what kind of deals Davidson was working on that didn’t pan out, if any.

If he seemed content on keeping both Blackwell and Johnson, why not try to get in on some of the many deals that required third party brokers for cap space? There were plenty of free 4th-6th round picks out there to be had for nothing, really. I don’t see any reason to pass on those when the only cost was a bit of cap space.

Yes we have tons of picks already, but free assets are free assets. As we’ve seen this deadline, even low rounds pick can turn into actual players so why not continue to stock up on picks in the 2026-2027 drafts while we still have essentially unlimited cap space to leverage?

  2. Eh, not much to be done anyway. Just waiting for next season 🤷‍♀️

  3. Even having expected very little this is underwhelming. No, there weren’t players to move like last year, but breaking even on Beauvillier is it? No way to bring in even a couple of picks? I dunno. Waiting to see Davidson show the ability to do a little more than tear down a roster and overpay when the salaries don’t matter.

  4. Is this the most disastrous season in Blackhawks history? Gotta be up there. Every single thing that could have went wrong more or less did. Not that the roster would have been super competitive even without the scandals/injuries. This is the icing on the cake… to not be able to add anyone to help bedard develop but also not even be able to take on some heavy cap hitters for roster fodder/acquiring draft picks…. This is an absolute dumpster fire. Feels like we are 5 seasons away from even sniffing a playoff spot right now. Here’s to hoping some of the young players take an NHL leap next season and we finally start spending proper money on free agency cause this has been way harder to watch than the on ice product from last year. Bedard deserves so much better than this

  5. I mean, they gave their trade chips, Foligno, Dickinson and Mrazek extensions earlier in the year, Perry was kicked to the curb so it was expected to be quiet. I don’t think a GM wanted an injury prone Tyler Johnson as a depth piece. Hell they might try to trade Blackwell and Johnson during the draft or right before free agency

  6. Well I’ll be the first to say I was annoyed by the lack of moves made this year but with the power of hindsight there really weren’t many trades we could have gotten involved with that would have benefitted us. We shipped off Beauvillier for about what we paid for him so that’s a wash, and outside of that we really don’t have many appetizing trade pieces we would be willing to give up right now. If we were going to be involved in anything it was always going to be taking on salary for low level picks and considerations, and there really weren’t many three team trades that fit that criteria we could have been involved in this year. Still would have liked to see a bit more but it just wasn’t a great situation this year.

  7. I didn’t really expect much today and I’m glad he’s just not doing things to do them.

  8. Man when it comes to tracking players/analytics, contracts, and all the front office shit I have no idea what is going on. Between management and sports betting plus trying to keep up to date with just the team let alone the whole league I just am lost. I don’t care to learn tbh but when it comes to discussing hockey with anyone I always hate when the discussion goes that way because I’m useless.

I just like watching the game fellas. I barely even get to watch the games anymore either. I’m always so devastated because I never know who we’re losing and why. I get attached to their on-ice personalities and rarely am happy to see ANYONE go. Too much to keep track of idk how y’all can be so up to date on everything going on in the league and some of you follow multiple leagues on top.

  9. Not surprising. Anyone a playoff team maybe would have wanted, Foligno, Dickinson, Mrázek, were all extended to give the rookies some stability next season.

The others that KD would have been willing to trade, well… if you were an NHL GM would you want any of them?

Yes a little more action would have been nice but, in the 2024 draft the Hawks still have 7 picks in the top 70. Plus they’re pretty much a lock for at least a top 5 or probably top 3 pick in 2024.

  10. Feel like keeping Tyler Johnson is pointless.

No way he doesn’t demand at least a 3rd/4th.
