  1. Temple basketball is under investigation for potential match-fixing the other night.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

  2. Ngl, respect him for saying that. They can deny it but it’s absolutely right.

  3. I haven’t seen the rhetoric get this bad ever on nba referees.   People really believe they are betting on games and deliberately blowing calls to win their bets

  4. Rudy opened our eyes with covid-19, draymond looking for ejection when Steph isn’t playing and now referee sports betting.

    Truly a generational whistle blower

  5. It’s weird but I think both things are true at the same time. Zero percent chance betting doesn’t effect the game and reffing. But also gobert was fouling a lot that game and his sixth foul was absolutely a foul.

  6. Refs have been atrocious since before legal sports betting. But it does seem like they’re getting worse in the recent years

  7. I’m glad this sub doesn’t talk about betting all the time, but it’s literally 90% of Twitter commentary now. I can’t imagine that refs aren’t heavily “suggested” to impact the massive amounts of money every night.

  8. Refs do fix games but it’s not all Freethrows, They control the flow of the game by allowing the team they want to win play physical defense while the other team won’t be able to play as physical because any soft touches will be called. That doesn’t show on stats or FT count. It’s not just the refs though I think NBA officials are also part of cheating, they are obviously teamed up like who they want to come out as a winner. it could be sports betting and it also could be boosting ratings like extending a playoff series to 7 games or avoiding a playoff swept, or helping a certain team make it to the playoffs.

  9. as someone who watched the wolves play the pacers yesterday, i agree with Gobert.

  10. NBA refs are the worst in sports IMO. They call fouls when they get in their feelings. Just to see the clip of Tim Duncan getting a technical for laughing while sitting on the bench. In what other sport does that happen? The NBA needs to do something about their ref problem. It’s damaging the game. They need to take power away from the refs.

  11. Uhmmm, because they are.

Look at the bets. Look at the history of referees in the NBA.

Look at the odd decision making in games.

  12. Genuine question – can somebody explain to me the connection between the increase in sports betting and refs? Asking from ignorance here. Is it something to do with refs fixing games because they themselves have bets on or is it something else? I’ve just never understood the correlation of sports gambling increasing = refs fixing games.

  13. It’s hard not to disagree. Every game there is suspect calls. I submitted a ticket to cancel my league pass. I’m done providing money to a league that won’t fix this. They are happy because they are making record profits even if the product is at a low time (i.e 2024 AMERICA). They don’t care that every shot is either a travel to a 3 or a player’s catapulting themself into the defenders, they don’t care that everybody knows [Scott Foster is a corrupt referee ](https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/scott-foster-recipient-of-134-tim-donaghy-phone-calls-refereeing-celtics-heat-game-3/) who received 1000% more calls from disgraced referee Tim Donaghy than any other referee.

I can understand how the players who come from oversees and are used to playing a professional organized unbiased basketball come to a game where the referees have an agenda (either personal driven or NBA). You have no idea how the game will go.
