NFL Rumors: Bucs Open to Trading Starting CBs Carlton Davis III or Jamel Dean

  1. With our secondary the last two or three years, we might do just as good with no one back there.

  2. Dean is probably our best CB when he’s healthy. It just seems like he gets hurt 2-3 times a year. Davis has really regressed.

  3. Dean is great but getting a tendency to get burned on a play to immediately go out injured

  4. I don’t see a clear path to this happening for either player. Davis has been an injury risk with little ball production and Dean played his worst year in ’23 and carries a higher salary than his play value.

Not saying these can’t happen but I wouldn’t get your hopes up for any pick of value for either player.

  5. I think this is more because of the total investment back there than it is an indictment on either one’s play.

  6. Not sure how much we’d get for either. They’ve been unreliable, but I think I’d rather have startable CBs than a 4-5th rounder

  7. I’d be all for even cutting Carlton but the dead cap is a motherfucker.

IMO Jamel is a top 20ish CB. The money’s not that bad either.

  8. Pretty surprising seeing the poo poo platter behind them in the secondary. The pass defense was anywhere from shit to fucking shit when one/both of them are hurt
