[Schefter] Baker Mayfield’s deal with the Buccaneers: 2024: $30 million 2025: $30 million, including $20 million guaranteed 2026: $40 million $5 million per year in incentives $100 million total, with incentives a max value of $115 million.

100 M’s over three for Baker?! How are we feeling about this?? I’m happy for him.. I’m also a bit salty he couldn’t perform to this level for us.. l’m also pretty happy the Bucs have basically decided to forego another Super Bowl run for the next few years (assuming he remains the starter) while we catch up to the division lmao. A mix of emotions I suppose. Your thoughts?

  1. It’s basically $25mm/yr for 2 years. Not that taxing for a team that isn’t drafting high enough to find something better. And good for Baker. He didn’t do anything to us.

  2. A couple people in NFL media mentioned that Daniel Jones contract was a great comp for Baker to use.

  3. Good for him! Also we ain’t 3 years away from a Super Bowl 😂😂😂 worst owner in the league and no cohesion at head coach yeah no maybe in a decade when tepper sells the team

  4. Good for him honestly. Been misused and undervalued his whole career. Took his poverty franchise to the playoffs and they kicked him for a rapist for his troubles. If anyone deserves a decent contract, it’s baker.

  5. Cap went up significantly this year, salaries, in particular for QBs are expected to increase accordingly.

Makes the Bryce Young trade more palatable knowing we have him under control for four more years at a relatively modest cap hit.

  6. I was thinking Baker would turn out to be the next Fitzpatrick, the wondering ronin stealing starting jobs and then vanishing only to do it again the next franchise over.

Looks like he’s the next Cousins instead; just planting himself as the pivot point between the good and the bad QBs and making bank for himself until he’s no longer a metric.

Good for him. This league chews up so many players, its always nice when a player runs a game on them in turn.

  7. Good for Baker. Wish he had a real chance here but front office & Rhule handled his situation so poorly.

  8. What with all the posts lately that aren’t related to Panthers football? I feel like every piece of Mike Evans news, the Jerry Jeudy trade, the Baker signing has had a post. I get it’s the offseason, and things like Cam or Luke sentimental posts don’t bother me much, but this seems kind of irrelevant.

  9. He was traded here. He didn’t want to be here. IDK why anyone would think a player would do anything other than do everything he can to get released so he can become a free agent on a team he WANTS to play for.
