Desperate times call for desperate measures 😯🚨🌲

Nist on his back hand a shot save by flurry  deny Yosi flurry read that beautifully he was   in position Square on top of his crease almost  before the puck even got there great hockey sense   by the golender long shift here for Capri he’s  waiting for a chance to get off here fa changes

Capri still lingering with the puck and flurry to  the pitch how about this move here W I mean they   need every Point banger empty net for Minnesota  in a 33 game in overtime capriso extending the   shift how about this move from John Hines to  get four attackers out there four forwards in

All zuk carella from the circle baling scor  oh my what a move by John hin to pull the   [Applause] holy jumping what great execution I kept watching  Mark Andre flurry he kept kind of coming Higher

And Higher and I’m thinking to myself they are  going to do this right guys on the ice the right   setup and that puck was moved around beautifully  by the Minnesota Wild they LED 3-2 when Harman

Picked it off and went in on the Breakaway then  they were stunned when the call was made and   Ryan O’Reilly tied it at three but Minnesota Wild  showing great resilience in a scrappy hockey game

This afternoon here on the NHL on TNT what a game  in a game Minnesota had to have they got it in the end well here’s the setup here you got Eric  neck in front of the net no goal Tanner zuk

Carella at the half boards he’s going to  play it back right here to kov kov goes   right back again they’re waiting for that  one moment right there through the seam   and the Nashville Predators don’t quite read  it the sticks are cheating to the goal line

They don’t see Baldi up high and he makes an  absolutely perfect shot right here inside the   post beyond the glove of sorrow and in  the net well executed by the Minnesota Wild from the net view Soros  no chance flurry’s reaction

Right to my left look at that great  enthusiasm an energy there by Mark   Andre flurry who is strong again  in this one what a reac that is

With playoff chances fading, the Minnesota Wild risk a point by pulling their goalie with the game tied in 3-on-3 overtime for a man-advantage opportunity to win the game against the Nashville Predators.

  1. Statistically speaking, this is actually a brilliant move. Most coaches are terrified to pull unless you're behind and in the final few minutes. The statistics actually show if you're down by 1 or more, you should pull the goalie if there's less than 10 minutes remaining in the third. The context changes in overtime as there are different rules, but I think it's quite fair to say a 4 on 3 advantage is better for the team with 4, than a 6 on 5 is for the team with 6. Fewer players means less chaos, less chances for interceptions and defensive action.

Brilliant move by the wild, absolutely love to see it. Even if they lost, I'd be singing their praise for the attempt. Not many people will be ballsy enough to rely on good math, but they did and it paid off!

  2. Its a great move considering the preds weren’t being aggressive on the forecheck, i think once GM knew they werent being aggressive he made the final decision too pull and put all the pressure on

  3. When I was watching this and saw Fleury go to the bench in Ot for the extra attacker, I was thinking that the Wild had switched coaches and brought in Patrick Roy as the new coach.
