Stat comparison for Pickett vs Wilson

I really don’t see any negative to this signing and I’m glad yinz agree. Russ is clearly a massive upgrade over Kenny, hopefully the Coach T culture here can get Russ cooking.

  1. A guy who was considered a borderline future HOFer before 2 years ago has better numbers than a guy who’s now considered a bust and has played less than 2 full seasons? Wow! Mindblowing stuff.

  2. Why? (Edit: Flashback to when I said the Kenny posts wouldn’t stop even if he got benched).

  3. Russ makes the steelers a legit contender in the afc. We got to the playoffs last year with the worst OC and QB combo in the nfl and we’ve upgraded both of those positions dramatically. Russ is also making the bare minimum salary wise and it allows us to upgrade other positions of need on the team.

  4. I’m pretty excited about this season. Need some OL help on offense & we should be in good shape, assuming health holds up on the offensive side.

  5. I can’t believe how some media folks think that this is a stupid signing. Pure clickbait shit from DK.

  6. 42 – 13 touchdowns . Only 5 games difference. A few more interceptions but 13 touchdowns in unacceptable

  7. I don’t think people are arguing who is better, I think its more of a “we are swapping one bad QB for another bad QB, why?”

Why don’t we look at sacks and depth of target and heat maps and time to release as well, because as bad as Kenny is (and he’s awful), he’s better than Russ at all of those which has killed Russ’ offenses for years.

Our offense is still going to be bad, just in a different way.

  8. Bottomline, guys it makes sense for you guys to sign Russ. The contract and the fact that he’s obviously better than Pickett alone makes it worth it. But do not kid yourselves. Russ is absolutely washed and you will be screaming at your TVs all season. No hate. Just facts.

  9. The numbers you see on the right are not good. That’s not the point. The numbers you see on the right are not historically bad, which cannot be said for the numbers on the left.

  10. “Kenny went to school in Pittsburgh so I’d rather watch him pirouette into a bunch of sacks. Give him one more chance, trust me bros.”

    People that downvote me

  11. He’s a proven veteran that most people aren’t going to argue over being a starter. He’s most likely going to be starting the season at QB and Kenny is now in the position that Mason has been in since being drafted.

  12. And it’s for a million which is less than 1/2 a % of the total cap. It’s a no-brainer signing.

  13. If Russ can help keep the offense on the field, let the RBs eat up the clock, and get the occasional deep ball to Pickens, etc – hoo-frickin-ray.

The defense is on the field the bulk of each game, and if the offense can keep them rested/healthy, then the ones screaming for a playoff win might just get their wish.

For the Kenny stans – what’s wrong with a year to learn ie Jordan Love?

This could work out for us all.

  14. You can only blame Canada so much. Russ is in a different league. Plus he will get more opportunities with the ball in his hands here with our great D.

  15. If he wants to win playing a second year with the broncos footing the bill sets him up for a better win now situation and then going for a big contract after. Depends on if his priority is winning or max earnings

  16. Dude if you think RW is here for anything than an extra QB coach / mentor you’re smoking something.

RW will “compete” sure, but it will be no competition. Bet on it.
