Wait what?
perfectly reasonable terms.
curious what happens with howell. Maye / Daniels, Mariota and Howell.
If this was 2015 I’d be going crazy
It was always gonna be awkward to have Howell back up Maye
Why? That’s expensive over Howell unless he just got traded. Worst singing so far
Howell is getting traded
all i can think of is they think they have a decent offer for Howell out there. no other reason to make the backup qb spot so much more expensive imo
I imagine Kliff wanted him as backup
Bye Sam, it was a fun ride
JP Finlay @JPFinlayNBCS now That aint good news for Sam Howell sticking in DC
Don’t really understand why we’d pay someone $6 mil to be a third string QB. I assume this means they’re going to trade Howell.
Brissett replacement. Im on the edge of my seat on how the Howell situation shakes out.
Sam Howell, as a 5th rd pick, had a huge hill to climb to start in the league. It also meant, right or wrong, that he wouldn’t be afforded as many opportunities as a higher draft pick.
Mariota hasn’t been a difference maker at QB in a long time so this is just a vet bridge signing.
Howell truthers (me) in shambles rn
Welcome to Washington Jayden Daniels
Knowing our luck, Sam is about to get traded and go off. Good for him though, I’m not a hater
First move I don’t love, unless there is a deal for Howell. Keeping Howell as a cheap backup with upside made more sense than paying a veteran to me.
I don’t think this move signals one way or another on Maye/Daniels considering they were also in talks with Sam Darnold yesterday.
I don’t think this is any indication that Howell will be traded. They lost a vet in Brisett. Now they have a replacement.
I also don’t think this points to Daniels. Just a vet signing for mentorship and could mentor any rookie.
Finally: people throwing out us getting a 2 or 3 for Howell are delusional. We’d be lucky to get back the 5th we invested in him.
Why? He’s been a league-worst QB at every opportunity and is barely making less than Brisset. Not sure he’s all that great of a veteran presence either, given him quitting on the team in ATL after being benched the year before.
Brian Johnson former Eagles OC gets his man in the locker room. Kingsbury got Ertz. Waiting on Anthony Lynn to bring a Niner.
I would keep Howell.
I hope this means we brought him in to mentor Daniels
if this signing means that they are drafting daniels, they will be drafting another qb in 3 years.
Twenty five percent cheaper than Brissett.
During their rebuild, the Orioles always made a priority to sign enough bargain-bin veterans so that they could mentor rookies at each position: pitching, catching, infield, and outfield. It’s like having an extra set of position coaches, and the O’s have proven it works well.

As J. Peterman said to Elaine:
(Sam) Kudos on a job…………done.
