  1. Translation: The Patriots have the best offer, but Ridley would like them to bid against themselves

  2. This kind of report is outside the norm for Schefter, who is typically a “hard news only” type this time of year. He’s doing a favor for someone here. Ridley’s agent trying to get the Pats and/or Jags to up their offer?

  3. He may prefer that, but the Jags signing of Gabe Davis and their cap situation say otherwise.

  4. Definitely seems like he wants more money in general? Who it comes from seems to be another question

  5. Idk I still have a feeling he goes somewhere else even if not with us – Kirk/Davis/Ridley would be a pretty significant amount of money tied up at WR for them.

  6. Maybe we should float more MHJ rumors or Higgins trade rumors to let them know he isn’t the only option.

  7. Ridley: “I ain’t goin to New England to catch balls from that hack, Mac Jones!”

Patriots: “Hmm…” *Sends Mac to Jacksonville* “How bout now?”

  8. Jags have to give the Falcons a 2nd instead of a 4th this year if they give Ridley a contract extension. This is 100% Ridley’s agent using Jaguars to get us to up our offer

  9. We’re going to have to give him the bag, rather take a shot a Brown at this point

  10. So going off the patterns, Ridley signing is imminent. They are just negotiating terms.

  11. He’s giving us the “it’s not you it’s me” routine, I invented that routine!!

  12. I’d honestly file this under “no shit”. No income tax in Florida, the Jaguars are way closer to competing than we are, and the state of the front office even with Eliot Wolf seemingly having the final say is still in a state of flux since he doesn’t have the general manager title. Makes complete sense why he’d be using whatever the Pats are offering as leverage.

  13. I only see him as a WR2 so I wouldn’t mind not getting him and instead trading for Keenan Allen or someone like that.

  14. What is the jags cap space number looking like? I know Christian Kirk signed that massive deal but idk how much was up front, plus with getting Gabe Davis and Engram it’s a lot potentially thrown at their receiving core. So maybe if we throw him more money, the Jags won’t match?

  15. Feel like this is his agent trying to squeeze every last buck out of New England. I believe a stipulation when JAX acquired him from ATL was that if he re-signed with Jacksonville the compensation turns into a second round pick. And this is an outstanding class for WR’s so from a roster building point of view it would be prudent of Jacksonville to let him go elsewhere and draft his replacement with their second rounder.

  16. Do people not see this as leverage? It didn’t rule us out at all; it reads that we probably offered the best deal and he’s wanting Jax to match it. If not, he’s probably ours.

  17. Really hope we up the ante and manage to lock him down.

Even if we have to overpay I think it’s honestly worth it so we have a great receiver available for whoever we draft at #3. It’s not just about the production he puts up but also about making Maye/Daniels more comfortable.

I’m far from a Mac stan but we definitely let him down with the lack of weapons we gave him and getting Ridley would be a major step in the right direction.

Add someone like Coleman in the 2nd round and we could have a damn good WR room in Ridley/Coleman/Pop/Bourne/Juju.

  18. I mean yeah. Money is going to be the only thing we can offer. Jacksonville has a lot more in place than we do.

  19. At first it seems like leverage, but why would Ridley not just go to Jacksonville directly and say “this is what the Pats are offering me, I’d rather stay so match this.” To me this seems like they’re bluffing to squeeze even more money out of the patriots, and then will perhaps go back to Jacksonville to see if they match.

  20. Big brain move to trade Mac Jones to the team we want a reciever from so he wants to stay there less.

  21. I was just listing to them discuss this on NFL radio. They said the Patriots have almost no chance since the money has to be significantly higher for 2 reasons:

    1. Florida is tax free so in real money he will make way more

    2. He prefers to play in Jacksonville so that requires more money as well.

Pretty much it isn’t looking good unless Kraft overpays which I don’t see happening.

  22. Hey friends. Anyone here ready to do the “HE SUCKS” thing when he doesn’t come here? It’s what we do best.

    And if not him then…….

Who? Or right, the draft will save us because every wr from the draft immediacy becomes a WR. Sorry… I was concerned for nothing.

  23. Feels like the longer this goes the less likely it is to happen. My guess is Ridley will sign with the Jags tomorrow once the new league year has started so the jags only give up a 3rd.

I really wanted Ridley but it’s not the end of the world. Gotta hope either Mitchell or McConkey are there at 34, or trade up a bit to jump KC and the panthers if necessary
