How I’ve felt reading the fan pages these past few months

  1. You nailed it. The expectations are unrealistic and people are expecting an immediate return to annual trips to the playoffs with a first time head coach.

  2. I love what we’re doing. Let a bunch of overpriced mid level vets walk. Re-sign a couple key dudes. Bring in some overlooked short term good value vets. Now bring on the draft and let’s get things cooking for 2025.

  3. I mean JS did say that it was clear the Seahawks overachieved during the 2022 season. That should have been a pretty clear signal to the fans that at a minimum the Hawks would be retooling the roster.

If some people think the roster just needs a couple of pieces, I would beg to differ. If it wasn’t for the Broncos and the cap going massively up, the Seahawks’s dead cap would be an off-season storyline. IMO, this situation and former players of MM saying it takes a year for him to scheme a system around the players (& for them to learn it), this was always going to be a rebuilding year or at least a “laying the foundation” year.

Sure, the Hawks could be competitive. But, realistically, with the 9ers roster and the Rams good young roster in division, the Hawks at best are looking at a wildcard slot at best for this year. Next year could be a completely different question.

  4. What is a “rebuild” for this team even. Stocking up on young talent? check. Cutting and restructuring expensive overpaid vets? check. But also, paying draft capital and spending big money on a 30-year-old DT.

I think a Seahawks rebuild will never include tanking. We’re too good to tank, and it would make little sense to anyway. Continue to stock up on draft picks, continue to avoid overpaying for average players like Brooks and Lewis, both guys were very solid, but great teams don’t overpay for average starers. Patriots built multiple dynasties on value free agents. We won the SB with a young core of starters and a bunch of value trades and free agents.

We’re on the right track, but it’s hard to say we’re “rebuilding” so much as re-adjusting the roster, creating some flexibility and cap space for future years, and drafting well. All we need is a young QB in the draft we can be excited about, and the whole rebuilding/retooling conversion is kind of irrelevant. JS is fixing the roster and it will take some patience to get to the finish line here.

  5. So many people wanted Pete fired, we got that. This is what that looks like. Splashy FA signings aren’t part of that. Enjoy the quiet before the draft

  6. We could continue to be mid or blow it up and try to build something great. That’s what Pete did when he arrived. I’m excited to see Mike’s vision. That said, next year might be for die-hard fans only… GO HAWKS!

  7. People really need to go into 2024 with exactly zero expectations. It’s the sane, safe thing to do.

  8. Yeah, rebuilding and having a successful season never happens.

Imagine a team getting rid of a franchise quarterback and making the playoffs with a career backup the next season! Never happens.

I see all these “don’t worry” posts, but I’ve yet to see “it’s fine we go 4-5 wins the next two years”.

Same people posting memes will be crying by 2-7 next season. Rational fans discuss

  9. I know this is the wrong team. But 2 days ago I literally saw a guy angry on the mariners subreddit because the moves they made didn’t make the mariners a world series team…like bro wtf?

  10. Here’s my thing. If you’re out here advocating for turning over the roster and just saying that the draft will provide when it comes to all the holes on the team then fine. That might very well prove to be the correct course of action. Just don’t complain about the on field product this upcoming season when the games are actually going on.

  11. The one thing I don’t understand is this . A particular position group plays really bad and everyone wants to get better at that position.
So they let the “bad players “ go and people get upset .

  12. If we’re rebuilding why pay Leonard Williams and Keep Geno? John Schneider seemed to think that 9 wins last year was underachieving, hence firing Pete and hiring Mike.

  13. Just a reminder that we have won zero Superbowls since Pete Carroll was fired. Food for thought…

    /s just in case.

  14. Just because we have money doesn’t mean we should spend it all. That’s not a great way to build the team longterm. We aren’t SB contenders, we shouldn’t be spending like we are.
