[Thamel] Sources: UConn offensive coordinator Nick Charlton is leaving for the Cleveland Browns, where he will be the offensive assistant/run-game specialist. He’s the former head coach at Maine (2019-21), where he was the youngest head coach in Division I.

  1. Damn. The Browns are getting a bunch of young offensive minds, between this guy and the new tight end coach they have a lot of promising people

  2. Love the run game / pass game specialist thing the browns are cooking. Let’s Kev be a CEO type and gets lots of different perspectives in the room. Sign me up for young/ ascending assistant coaches all day

  3. Did a quick google of the UConn offense stats last season…

Looks pretty balanced between run/pass attempts, 395/381 respectively. He gonna pound the rock. Average of 136 yds per game

  4. So Nick Charlton was an assistant under Liam Coen at Maine (Coen is the new OC for the Bucs, was OC for the Rams in 2022), and is the OC under Jim Mora at UConn right now.

  5. Something I really respect about Stefanski is his willingness to change. The dude loves the classic Minnesota offense but is willing to change to fit his players. Kinda hard to find that type of coach. He seems to be looking for young, innovative offensive minds with this and Rees.
