What are some surnames longer than Khusnutdinov, but not consisting of two names (e.g. Nugent-Hopkins, Forsbacka-Karlsson)?

  1. I remember the old EA games on Sega had to shorten Konstantinov and Vanbiesbrouck because they were too long. I had a friend who called Vlady “Konstantinv” for years.

  2. Ryan VandenBussche’s jersey always looked funny, lol

John Vanbiesbrouck and Jamie Langenbrunner come to mind too

Not hockey, and it also wasn’t on the jersey, but…. back in the late 90s, there was a naturalized Serb on the US soccer team, his name was Predrag Radosavljevic. Of course Americans shat bricks when they saw that name, so on the back of his jersey, it just said his nickname “Preki”. (That’s like Michael Jordan’s jersey just saying “Mikey”, lol)

  3. Marchessault ties him but neat fact is he was originally a hyphened last name but stopped Audy from it.

  4. Branko Radivojevic. His son Luka is probably gonna make the show, he’s an 07 birth year. Beauty name.

  5. Hjalmarsson. Same length, but you definitely got your money’s worth if you bought his jersey.

  6. I can’t wait for all the away/tnt/espn teams to butcher this kids’ name…

they’re gonna be saying it a lot!!

  7. The name Langenbrunner always looked like it was arched to fit, but I think it’s just because the beginning and end letter kinda slouch down like in this picture

  8. At first glance I thought we’re talking about Kuzi and I’m having a stroke

  9. Miroshnichenko is the only one I can think of. The others that came to mind—Sharangovich, Montembeault, and Siegenthaler—are all the same length.

    Fun question!

  10. My local junior team had a MacPherson-Ridgewell. Even in size 6 font it practically went from elbow to elbow.

  11. Scott Kleinendorst comes to mind. RIP
Certainly there are longer ones mentioned here though.

  12. Retired MMA fighter, but Zabit Magomedsharipov. Surely someone from his family played hockey. I’ll show myself out.

  13. Klumpenhauer, Blankenbiller, Debardladen, Schoewenguertner, Van Zandermuellen, De Rentmeester, Van Benschoeten, Sollenbergerstadt, and of course… the Apeldoorns.

  14. The NHL is lucky that there aren’t any Sri Lankan or Thai players in the NHL! Us and our long ass last names

  15. Bouwmeester and Cammalleri are pretty close. They had a smaller letter font for their jerseys in Calgary I think.
