  1. If that’s the cost of keeping guys like Aiyuk and Jennings, I’m ok with it. It’s the reality of being successful in the salary cap era.

  2. Great dude, nice player but the injuries added up and paying him what he was due made no sense.

Kind of glad the door is officially closed on the pre Kyle/John era.

  3. Its possible he wont get the offer he’s looking for. He could very well sign the contract offered. Is there a market for him?

  4. Was kind of expected but I thought it would happen after June 1st. I believe we save more post June cut so not sure why they did it today, but they do have a history of trying to do right by a player even if it means it’s not the best for the 49ers.

  5. Nothing to say except a big thank you to Arik for his commitment on surviving the Baalke years and helping the 49ers change the culture to NFC dominance.

I hope he finds the bag in FA and loses the SB to us this upcoming season

  6. There’s nothing to say he doesn’t come back. He may not get what he’s looking for money wise from other teams especially coming off a surgery this offseason.

Of course, an off season surgery didn’t stop the Jimmy-G from getting paid (and laid).

  7. Bottom line for me are the missed games due to injuries. 13 games over the last 2 seasons. Plus, still needs an operation for something -I think foot? Keeps him out of practice thru July. It’s not going to get better as he ages.

  8. A 49er legend. It felt inevitable. His health, those feet, just can’t last a full season. Even when he came back he was no where near what he once was. I’ll cheer for him anywhere he goes.

  9. I don’t find be looked the same at all last year but definitely a player it sucks to lose.
