[Burns] AA said Kelenic’s spring has “zero, no impact” on signing Duvall. “This is about Duvall. We had an opportunity to get Duvall back, we were going to do that. Jarred has looked great. He’s looked great defensively … We’re very excited about Jarred and how he’s doing, thrilled.”

  1. I honestly believe this. I think the Braves just couldn’t pass up Adam Duvall at $3M. His defense alone is worth that much and he still has some life left in his bat. I also don’t think the Braves care about such a small sample size from Jarred Kelenic in spring.

  2. It’s a no brainer even if Kelenic was playing out of his mind this ST.

A chance to bring Duvall back for $3M is a great deal. It instantly solves any depth problems we had for the outfield

  3. I agree with everything everyone is saying. With that said it will never not blow my fucking mind that 3M is a “good deal”.

  4. This is precisely why I stay away from all of the Kelenic riff raff. I have yet to see any Braves fan here or on the baseball subreddit give a measured take about him. Every word about him is the Braves are going to turn him into prime McGuire, or that he’s the Mendoza line incarnate.

I’m very glad we picked him up for his potential and the control we have over him, but my expectations for him this year were and still are *very* low.

I straight up do not believe in the “change of scenery” antidote but if there is any hitting coach in baseball that can help him figure it out, it’s Seitzer.

Even if that’s the case, that’s not going to happen over night or by the end of spring training, and hell it may not come around until the latter half of the season.

  5. I’m nervous that Duvall is a back up plan in case AA thinks Acuna may injury his knee again.

  6. I believe it. We’ve seen great players have bad spring’s and bad players have great springs. I doubt they look too much into it. It’s great to have Duvall back though.
