  1. I know there’s an age difference, but the difference in the way people talk about Ant vs Brunson is insane to me.

  2. He won’t until we make a deep playoff run that he shines in. He doesn’t dunk, wasn’t a top 10 pick, and has a much more methodical game that isn’t considered flashy/fun. Even though he’s a great scorer, he isn’t going to ever be Embiid or booker putting up 60+ in a game. He also is never going to regularly tally up enough assists or rebounds to earn triple doubles the way Jokic or Luka do. Brunson will always be considered in that second tier of all stars but that doesn’t mean he isn’t impactful or an incredible player. He has an amazing approach to the game and does anything he can to win, which I’m not sure all of those “superstar” players have in them as there is more of a focus on themselves. The minute Brunson is viewed as a 1A guy is when he decides to be selfish and worry about his own stats over the team.

  3. He’d probably be 4th if he just missed the Cavs game instead of getting hurt.

That being said, who cares about the 1A shit. Never been more confident about a Knicks player who can make winning plays night in and night out. One of the best clutch scorers in the league, makes the right pass, and is somehow a plus defender. With him leading, the surrounding cast, and the continued smart FO moves, a title is coming soon.

  4. and he’s doing it on one of the slowest paced teams in the league and in just 35mpg.

  5. Let the pundits continue to sleep on us. I watch a lot of gains through streameast and most of the opposing broadcasters respect and hype Brunson so it’s not like he’s a nobody. Man got an all star appearance and will probably get an all nba nod. We all know how good he is and when fully healthy, we can beat any team in the league.

  6. A couple of things:

    1) Brunson is most definitely a top-5 PG in the league, and it’s not even a discussion. However, I still don’t think he’s in that “superstar” category yet.

In my eyes, there are 3 tiers of stars:

    a) Tier 1 are clear cut superstars that are the elite of the elite and perennial All-NBA shoe-ins. Only 10-12 players are in the category for me.

    b) Then you got Tier 2 Stars that are perennial All-Star players that are in contention for All-NBA in a given year…but just not quite superstar level. Guys like Brunson, Donovan, Ant, Kyrie, Sabonis, PG, Ja etc. are Tier 2 imo.

    c) Tier 3 is good players that are fringe All-Stars in a given year (Porzingis, Harden, Dame, Gobert, etc.)

    2) With all that said, at the end of the day….*none* of this shit matters fr! Who cares if Brunson is considered a superstar or not….we can all agree he’s a star player and the league treats him as such. He’s been getting huge amounts of respect and praise across the league from virtually everyone…I don’t even remember NYK Melo getting as much love and praise as Brunson has this past year.

As Knick fans, we know how truly amazing he is….and while it’s nice to say “We have a superstar player”….the titles don’t matter at all.

  7. The 1A discourse is silly.

If you think in terms of characteristics needed for a team to win it all, brunson brings shot-creation, and clutch scoring.

Where he differs from all the other *1A’s* is he does so undersized from the PG spot – making him a potential liability on the defensive end in the playoffs.

The knicks front office knows this, and has built the team explicitly to cover for brunson on the defensive end, that also completments him on the offensive end. Mitch + OG together on the same defensive unit can make the knicks an elite defensive unit with Brunson on the floor.

The model is build the team around the offensive engine – like the warriors did with Steph.

  8. Just let him go under the radar. The less we talk about it the better. Him nor the team don’t need anymore of the spotlight that they already have now. Just let them play there game and let the rest of the nba catch up till it’s to late and we are contending for a title. The less pressure the better.

  9. When he takes us to a conference finals. National media only give respect when it’s earned in the playoffs. They have no ability for finer analysis. It’s annoying but I think we’re close.

  10. Other than Luka and Shai, are there any guards in the league definitively having a better season than Brunson? Like, am I forgetting someone or is Brunson just a top-3 point guard?
