A couple things stood out to me from this article:
- Picking Rice was based in part on Mahomes’ recommendation after he joined the informal workouts in Texas last spring bc he had played at SMU with Buechele
- Rice’s former coaches complimenting his intelligence and how he’s a fast learner
Looking forward to seeing how Rashee develops even more next year

Imagine if Rice started since week 1
he could’ve gotten over 1K in receiving and probably 10 TDs if in 8 games he was the focus he had 938yds and 7 TDs
Rice is awesome I can’t wait to see him continue to grow with this team. Dude can ball out
If he starts connecting on some more downfield stuff while retaining his YAC ability, he will be a super star.
His highlight is electric. He’s a running back playing receiver basically.
Rice has top 15 WR potential. I’m confident of that. If the Chiefs can hit on another guy in the first two rounds we could have a top 10 WR room in 2025.
step one no one else catching the ball . step two catch the ball. step three repeat step 2.
Rice single handedly saved our WR core this past season. The starting trio of MVS Toney & Moore were all healthy scratches throughout the playoffs or immediately cut after the season
The emergence of Rice gave us the consistent production we desperately needed to legitimize our dynasty run
Spoiler: he catches the ball
Hollywood is the perfect complimentary receiver to Rice. They have completely opposite skillets that will help open up the playbook & coverages for each other. The best WR duo Mahomes has had in a long time. Tyreek & Watkins were better, but Watkins had a lower floor than both Rice & Hollywood. It’s closer than people realize between the 2 duos
I assume the answer really came down to 2 main points
1. Skyy Moore
2. Kadarius Toney
He sucked less than other targets.
Next caller.

Hint: he caught the damn ball.
I think this is another example of why we shouldn’t expect a rookie to come in and contribute right away. Even an intelligent and quick learner like Rice took til later in the season before Reid trusted him
