[Mike Commodore] Folks…sad day today…Chris Simon was most definitely an intimidating guy on the ice…hell of a player as well…we spent a lot of time together during Flames 04 run since we were both living in the hotel…he couldn’t have been nicer to me. RIP Chris. You will be missed.

  1. I’ve heard rumors of what happened but I’m not going to contribute to that until I know what happened officially… Any word? Absolute shame. He was fun to watch

  2. It’s generally poor taste to speculate, but for the kind of player Chris Simon was and the era of Hockey he played in, there’s a more likely than not chance that whatever happened was related to CTE.

Sadly, we’re only going to get more stories like these in the coming years, and the NHL will keep denying concussions have a part in it.

  3. Scored the first goal on home ice in the 2004 SCF for us in game 3. I’ll never forget how loud the crowd was. RIP

  4. Nothing Official yet on cause so I’ll keep it to Hockey.

1999-2000 Simon received 1 Hart vote as he was the leading scorer on a Caps team that only managed 68 pts the season prior. That next year they made the playoffs with 102. Simon scored more even strength goals than any player scored total.

    RIP Chris.

  5. Rip. Horrible news, still remember him giving me his stick after a game years ago

  6. Man RIP, Simon was a beast for the flames. Was my favorite player to use in the NHL games cause he would destroy anything that touched him.

  7. Starting lineup 2004 SCF Game 6 at the dome, Iginla, Conroy, Simon, Leopold, Regehr, Kipper!

    RIP
