Back again with my penultimate Chargers mock draft before April. Had to change things up with Keenan Allen & Mike Williams gone. Still traded down from 5 (Still feels likely considering the number of needs), but finally moved off my OT-C focus with a different look.

I did come away from this curious, if Hortiz trades down with a team like MIN, if there would be another opportunity to move down slightly again just to build up some of that Round 3-5 capital. As always, I have fun doing these and appreciate the constructive feedback and insight you all provide.
Looks good
No first round WR, no CB until day 3, this feels like a Tom Telesco draft
Barton is interesting though I don’t know if we’re quite the right fit. One one hand you know he’s going to end up somewhere on the OL and you have a full camp battle for it. On the other hand it seems like a less than ideal use of resources when you should be getting a surefire starter and not replacing Salyer/Pipkins. Maybe that’s just me but I think the OL coaching last season was sub par, and with Linsley going down it was going to be hard for the right side of the OL to work properly.
Overall I like it, but I don’t think this team can wait until the 4th round to take a corner. I think if you swapped Bowers for someone like Arnold I could really get behind this draft.
Terrible draft. I hope this doesn’t happen.
I actually really like the round 1-3 guys that were picked here, as well as Trey Benson. Though, I’m not sure if we can afford to wait till round 4 to address CB
I guess anything can happen but we just signed 2 TE’s putting us up to 4 TE’s active on the roster.
The Brock Bowers pick likely died with the Hayden Hurst news.
I think this is very likely but I see CB at 27 not C.
I’d rather just keep the 5th pick and fill the glaring hole at receiver with Nabers or MHJ and make it easy on ourselves.
I doubt it. There’s a reason why Harbaugh chose the Chargers over all the other franchises he interviewed with. That reason solely being Justin Herbert.
No way he turns his QB mancrush into a mere check-down guy whose primary job is to hand the ball-off. We’re definitely getting Nabers so that his running game actually has a meaningful play-action component. The Ravens did it TWICE taking undersized, speed WRs in the first (Brown, Zay). And alot of the names that did that are now here (Horitz, Roman). Plus, Malik Nabers is undeniably head and shoulders a better talent than Zay or Marquise on top of being 3 inches/20lbs heavier.
lol at bowers and mckonky. If we do trade they better get a CB with that second pick.
Hell nah we ain’t drafting two tight ends haha
Some of the late round picks I liked especially the Haden (CB) pick since he’s one I hope the bolts draft this year after watching some of his tape! Think he’ll fit right into Minters defensive schemes for the secondary
Not a fan of these picks
If we trade down I’d want to do something like
11 – Byron murphy or quinyon Mitchell 23 – Brian Thomas or AD mitchell 37 – Zach Frazier or TJ Tampa 69 – Tvondre Sweat or Sedrick Van Prann or maybe a wr who is left
Alright I’m finally coming around on Bowers in these mocks. Take him at 11, a Center at 23, a WR (Troy Franklin?) with our 2nd, and a DB/DT at 3rd. We can probably get a decent RB in the 4th and our team would be pretty complete
McConkey is the same type of receiver as QJ. They’re both YAC players. I think that alone discredits this whole mock for me, we wouldn’t draft the same archetype. I do love him as a player though, so fun to watch
Hate it. Feel like there’s people just trying to find ways to justify drafting Bowers in the 1st.
I will bet dollars to donuts the GM will not draft a TE in the 1st.
I could see them trading down and grabbing an OL w 1st ouch and BPA w 2nd first rounder.
I got problems with this. 1. We signed 2 tight ends. We don’t need to draft 2 more. 2. Junior Colson will not drop this far. He’s arguably best LB in the draft. 3. Cam Hart won’t last this long either. 4. Benson is the best back in the draft and won’t be there this late. 5. Jalen Green is way too small to hold the edge. He’s a UDFA. 6. The 5 pick will cost Minnesota more than that.
There is 0 shot Trey Benson is there in the 4th round…
