Saquon Barkley’s First 24 Hours as an Eagle

  1. Saquon is like the Giants’ Scott Rolen. At the time the Phillies were terrible and fans hung everything they had on him. Rolen didn’t care what the Phillies offered and just wanted out. He left and made comments like he felt like he “died and went to baseball heaven”. It was such a kick in the balls for Phillies fans, who had to watch the crappiest teams play in those years right before Citizens Bank Park/Thome. Even worse, Saquon went to a division rival. He really burned the bridge with NY. I wonder how this will play out when we reflect on his career after he retires.

  2. There’s something about Barkley that’s so approachable. I think once he settles in and the nerves wear off a bit he’s going to become a fantastic mouthpiece for this team; whether that’s on the sideline as a leader or in speaking to the fans and media. Good signing regardless of the contract.

  3. Saquon’s daughter is a born Eagle. Gonna be getting in fights in Lot E in no time.

  4. I am hoping Howie snuck in some language in that contract, that by putting on the helmet, we have also signed Saquon Jr in 20 years.

  5. Shit, man – thank you for posting this. Sincerely. It really brightened my day. This entire video, beginning to end, is like r/mademesmile meets r/wholesome meets r/eagles. I can’t wait to watch this guy play for us.

His daughter leading the E-A-G-L-E-S chant and Barkley’s response (“how do you know the song?”) is just gold.

EDIT: also “Daddy, you’re very very cool.” We’re all thinking the same thing.
