  1. You could do a lot worse than Jacoby as a bridge QB while our new guy gets ready.

  2. If he can throw for 3000+ yards and have limited turnovers, I’ll be happy. Will be the best QB play we’ve had in 3 seasons if he plays like that

  3. Jacoby Brissett in his first 8 NFL career starts (when he had TY Hilton to throw to and Frank Gore at RB)

    3-5 146/244 (59.84%) 1666 Yards 3 TD 3 INT 6.83 Y/A 79.37 Rating

Jacoby Brissett in his last 8 NFL career starts (when he had Amari Cooper to throw to and Nick Chubb at RB)

    2-6 175/276 (63.41%) 8 TD 5 INT 7.29 Y/A 87.41 Rating

Bailey Zappe in his 8 career starts (throwing to Devante Parker, with end-of-line Zeke at RB)

    4-4 149/228 (65.35%) 9 TD 8 INT 7.07 Y/A 84.52 Rating

Amazingly, this sub will tell me that Brissett was signed to start, he’s a great bridge QB, a million times better than Zappe, and he’s starting this year. But Zappe is a terrible, worst in the history QB, he should be QB10000 and dropped yesterday, no chance he sniffs a football field.

  4. His role will be

    1. Don’t do anything stupid (which is harder than you’d think and the ability to do this is a virtue)

    2. Let the defense win the game, don’t let the offense lose it

    3. Win the time of possession and field position battles

But this is the old Bill Belichick model from before Brady was superstar and post-Brady. So I don’t know what Mayo and Co. think of this.

  5. He’s a crash test dummy to determine if our O-line and receiving corps are good enough to throw the rookie out there. Anyone thinking he’ll be even a league-average starter is delusional or a MHJr-or-bust fan (that may be redundant).

He’s well below the Dalton line, but he’s been gone long enough for fans to forget how not-even-mid he is because the last time he was here he was an afterthought and so we just associate him as being part of the “good old days”.
