Allen Iverson Speaks on Kyrie Irving Being the “Most Skilled Ever”

With AI himself being in the debate about being the “most skilled ever” (and rightfully so), it was expected he’d respond in this way. But without a doubt, Kyrie legitimately finds a place in the top 2. Dame being awestruck after that game-winner says a lot.

  1. Comparing current talent to past talent to claim one “better” seems like passive aggressiveness by people that will NEVER aspire to even half the level of excellence that these athletes achieve. Making comparisons is fine when you see similarities in their game (Luka and Bird for example, both excel/exceled at the game without exhibiting the athleticism that is commonly associated with dominant game). But to try to claim one better than the other, especially while one hasn’t played in decades, and another is still playing, just seems kind of odd.

It’s nice to see that AI appreciates Kyrie’s talent as he balled in similar fashion. I’m sure AI was constantly compared to other former greats and lame reporters always tried to bait him into saying something controversial. Glad to see AI giving props and not trying to sound like certain former players that are constantly trying to beat up on the current guys.

  2. AI is a class act, and not a bit worried about his cemented legacy as one of the greatest.

  3. Talking heads were debating this topic yesterday on the SiriusXM NBA channel. They couldn’t separate “most skilled” and “gets the most points”. Saying Lebron and KD were more skilled because they average more points. I don’t feel that was the spirit of what was said and didn’t like the argument really.

Idk, I feel like Kyrie has a smoothness to his movements and game no one else might have, but there are a lot of skilled scorers in the history of the game. I feel how you determined “skilled” would influence the argument that follows. Kind of like the MVP debate and how one determines ” most valuable” and what that means.
