  1. Oh shit, Ricky T from the top rope! I guess this means Gausman isn’t ready yet for opening day, so our rotation would be:

    1. Berrios
    2. Bassitt
    3. Kikuchi
    4. Francis
    5. One of Ricky T/Mitch White/Wes Parsons

  2. That is completely unexpected tbh.

Think that implies that Gausman won’t be ready to start the season and White might be preferred in a long-man role.

Having to open potentially a 3rd 40-Man spot would complicate things.

  3. this would be really exciting, but also I wouldn’t mind a smidge of service time manipulation

  4. If he’s stretched out enough, go for it. I would honestly let him get innings in triple A first, cause he only has like 45 professional innings to his name.

  5. Ricky T needs to get a shot this year. We’ve invested alot in him already, we need to further that investment by exposing him to some of the ruthless hitters in the bigs to help him prep for the next big leap in his journey

  6. Holy crap, do they consider him to be ready? Wow. I hope they don’t ruin his development like they did to Nate, but I’ll trust their judgement over mine, haha.

  7. I’m not sure that I see Ricky T is starting here in Toronto. He’s thrown so few innings in pro ball that I just assumed that this year would be more about getting his innings built up than anything else. He only pitched 44 innings in the minors last year. And he pitched something like 18 more innings in fall ball.
He still 21 after all. I don’t think the risk is worth it.

  8. No way. If anything, that makes me worry about how long Gausman is going to be out and how game-ready Manoah is.

  9. Sounds like everything is on the table for the 2024 season and they aren’t going to hold any punches .

  10. Just spitballing here but I feel like “in the mix” will ultimately pan out as the Jays deciding he looked good but needed more time in the minors.

  11. This is just talk. He’ll be on the roster this year, but not opening day. It’s not necessary, he needs to be built up etc. he’ll be here in May.
