i was at that game, unfortunately
Spider Straw was pretty awesome. He gave us quite a few highlights in CF too that I’ll always appreciate.
Guys a stud defensively. If he can become an average bat he’ll have a place in the league for a long time
Damn, not Straw Dawg. I remember ranting to my gf while watching a game about how awful he is at hitting, and he made some crazy defensive play as I was talking so I just shut up. Hoping whoever replaces him can hit.
If this is the end… thank fucking god.
I doubt it will be the end, I don’t foresee anyone picking up that contract. He’ll probably just get sent down to AAA.
I love his defense, but unfortunately he’s the Duane Kuiper of Center Field
I thought he played well this spring. I feel he played well enough to have earned a spot, but so did Freeman. This is the best way for everyone. If someone wants him off waivers we pull him back and negotiate a trade. If no one does, we pull him back and let him keep playing in the minors. Either way, the man gets paid…
I can’t wait to get a phone call from my dad later telling me how upset he is about this news.
He legitimately thinks Straw is one of the best players in the league and I don’t know why.
