Why. Why not Alika Williams 😭
I guess it makes sense to start Peggy and Nick in AAA to get consistent ABs. Williams will be exclusively as a defensive sub late innings and a day off for Cruz. Not enough ABs for everyone. Hopefully Peggy and Nick rake so they force the Pirates hand!
They think Triolo beat him out for the starting job, which I agree, and want Peggy to get consistent at bats instead of only every few days.
This team fucking loves utility infielders that hit like pitchers. I truly don’t get it.
You could make the argument that Peguero has an actual future and needs to go to Indy to play every day, and that it doesn’t matter if Alika Williams rots on the bench. But you just know this team is going to start him at least twice a week.
I wonder if Hernandez was optioned so they could keep Roansy up and in a bullpen role.
I don’t totally hate this, but only if Williams plays absolutely sparingly. He’s not a major league hitter at all.
