What type of player should the NY Jets seek for their WR3 role?

Author acknowledges that any of the top 3 WRs would fit into the offense and decided to highlight some less discussed prospects who may be available in the third round:
* Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky (#65 overall): 86% slot rate, 5th among FBS WR in slot YAC (517)
* Jalen McMillan, Washington (#82 overall): 89% slot rate, 6.9 YAC per reception in the slot (25th of 80 WR with 50+ slot targets)
* Jamari Thrash, Louisville (#117 overall): Only 10.8% slot rate but could project well into the slot; ranked 25th among all WR in total missed tackles forced (17) and had an 84.5 PFF receiving grade in the slot
* Luke McCaffrey, Rice (#121 overall): 72% slot rate, T-15th in slot TD (6) and 35th in slot YAC (316)
* Malik Washington, Virginia (#122 overall): 88% slot rate, 5th among WR in receiving yards (1,384), led WR in missed tackles forced (35), 4th in YAC (710)
The Jets should looks for a hard nose quick, no drama guy. DEF NOT OBJ
Mike Williams….draft a WR in the first.

I need them to draft a speed demon either 10th or later
I’d like to see a chain mover. Somewhat undersized, quicker than fast, knows how to beat zone coverage. I’m looking at Renfrow or Jalen McMillen.
Jeremy Kerley
The welsh rugby player!
Malik or bust
wouldn’t mind us signing Renfrow as WR3
Put Wilson in the slot and put a speed freak on the outside.
A renfrow type would be ideal
Realistically, nobody.
Lazard is still on the books and best case is to hope that he has a better year than the last one and that Xavier Gibson is able to expand his role.
A good one
Best player available, really, though with some caveats. I’d like some versatility to free up GW as much as possible, as well as some polish and production. Keep in mind that Williams likely won’t be on the team next year, so, while there are slot snaps open now, Having a guy who can play both spots would be ideal for next season .I don’t want another raw, size/speed project. We’ve failed too much with that type and we need guys to come in and produce. Let’s get a modern WR in here that can separate and run crisp routes. No Brian Thomas, no Corley, no Tez, no Polk, no Johnny Wilson. Roman, McConkey, Mitchell, Pearsall, Franklin, McMillan, Worthy would all be great, but Baker, Burton, Rice, and Thrash would also potentially be good fits too.
What’s the deal with Randall Cobb? Is he gonna stay on the team as a 5th string receiver or what?
A good one
I love Malik Washington out of Virginia in the 4th to fill our slot role. The kid plays so much bigger than his size. We met with him before the Combine, so there is some degree of interest.
Hunter Renfrow
Edge rusher at 10
Corey Davis
Ricky pearsal , Ladd mckonkey, or Luke mccafrey!
If nabers is there at 10 just take him. I know we are an injury away at line but the old jets would have never taken Breece hall in the second just to get athletes
We need another RB
Corey Davis
I’d love to get rid of Lazard as much as the next guy. BUT, if we’re stuck with him, the combination of Rodgers’ return and lessening the pressure on Lazard by having 2 dogs in front of him may actually make him a quality WR3.
Bowers will be the WR 3
Put Lazard in the slot god dammit.
Fast as fuck boi
Gipson can’t catch with his hands. Stop pretending
Nania why do you love Odell so much
I hate numbering WR’s. Last I checked there’s at least two starters, more often three, why are we giving them a number? We don’t have a number one Guard or Linebacker, we have roles, left and right, Strongside, Weakside, MIKE, etc.
What the *actual* question here is, “What do the Jets do at Y/Inside Slot? Because Williams and Wilson can be able X and Z receivers respectively.
Xavier Gipson kind of took on the role when Hardman wasn’t working out. He’s alright, showed flashes, happy to have him on the depth chart. He could develop into a steady undersized threat in the middle. But I THINK they can do better?
I don’t think there’s any major name on the market to do that. Gotta look towards the draft, either 10 or day 2.
