Positive news: Dunc’d On Pod PF rankings (including Siakam and Barnes)

Imo position rankings is pretty critical in evaluating players in the context of the league.

Nate and Danny generate these rankings based on the hypothetical that you're drafting guys to build a random team that has to go through a regular season and postseason starting now. Current injuries are ignored but if a player is "injury prone" then it does count against them because that matters. Guys who play in a perfect system (like Aaron Gordon) won't on another team so that counts against them, whereas guys who play in a terrible system for them (Banchero with no shooters) it helps their hypothetical case.

Players within the same Tier are viewed as close enough that you could make a credible argument in favour of one over another.

Pretty exciting season all things considered thanks to Barnes. I love prospect growth ngl.

Nate has Scottie ranked #6 in Tier 3, Danny has Barnes ranked #8 in Tier 4.

I agree with Nate's rankings more. Nate kinda ate into Danny a bit for keeping Mobley so high when it's clear he's an offensive liability. I think it's very possible Barnes is a top 5 PF starting next year if Pascal slips at all and Barnes improves as expected.

  1. I’m not sure how some subjective rankings by a couple podcasters are exciting, but go off, lol.

  2. I don’t know who those two guys are, but they obviously didn’t get the memo.

**Scottie Barnes is face of the league**

  3. having banchero and barnes in the same tier as gordon, draymond and jones is crazy or is it just me? on top of having mobley above the both of them

  4. Nate’s list starts rough but Danny’s.. oof. Herb over Banchero, Wagner, Randle? Has him as 9th best PF in the league lol Tobias Harris 47th is wild

  5. Both of them having Lauri as the second best PF in the NBA immediately invalidates this list LOL

  6. Scottie should be up a couple spots. But Siakam not being in the second tier of either of these is ridiculous. I dont even really get how you can have markannen above him let alone a tier above him.

  7. What the fuck is this? Why is this worth boosting? Would you guys be interested if I posted some shit my 4 year old doodled on his napkin last night at dinner?

  8. Nate’s ranking is not the worst in the world, though I don’t know why he has Lauri in solo tier 2, just put all 6 guys in tier two tbh

    Danny’s ranking is atrocious

  9. Not only do these lists not make sense, but I have a hard time believing the positions of some of these players. I have seen Scottie ranked on SG lists, SF lists, and PF lists now.

Herb Jones plays in a lineup of McCollum (PG), Ingram (??), Zion (??), JV (C), and he’s the PF? I just noticed Zion is on the list as well.

Jaden McDaniel’s likewise plays with Conley (PG), Edwards (SG), KAT (PF), Gobert (C), how is he the PF?? KAT isn’t on this list and he is obviously the PF. Giannis is on the list but KAT isn’t…

Denver plays with 2 PF’s apparently and they are both ranked on this list. Gordon and Porter?

For the most part they are big wings I just want to move away from these old positions that just don’t make sense anymore. These guys just wanted to make a stupid list of players where very few of them have anything in common.

Edit: just wondering why DeRozan isn’t on this list, or Butler either they both start at PF for their teams a majority of the time, their games are comparable to Herb Jones and McDaniels, maybe both being more interior focused.

  10. Danny unironically thinks Tobias Harris is on the same level as Simmons who doesn’t play, Bol Bol who doesn’t play and Boucher who also does not play, his list is such a joke, I’d at least have him in tier 6 or 7 and that may still be a bit too low

  11. reminds me of the rick dees weekly top 40. with cuts all over the board to sports media/journalism i hope this genre of sports content never dies, this and sports betting
