  2. This is going to be a really interesting draft year. If we have a pick in the 8-10 range, I could see us making a trade for a bonafide top 6 established NHL’er this year. We have that, plus Joker who has been good but not sure how he fits in the roster long term, plus maybe a prospect.

I’m not sure who fits the bill exactly as most of the bottom dwellers are rebuilding teams and have young players they probably don’t want to give up. Would the Islanders be willing to part with Barzal if the price is right? They seem stuck in the mud and may go into rebuild mode. Maybe Eriksson-Ek is a similar story in Minnesota. Both would definitely take even more than I suggested, but could really be a difference maker and we have a lot to give. They both have flavors of NTC starting this year, so perhaps a pipe dream. But it feels like the kind of trade I’d love to see us make.
