Oof, I’ve seen some absolute stinker articles from that paper so I’ll hold out judgement for now but if it’s true this is a big yikes from me. Both for the Pirates “due diligence” and German. I truly hope that it isn’t a problem for him purely from a human perspective, but he sounds exactly like me when I was trying to moderate my drinking when I clearly had a problem…I’ll give him grace cause this shit is not easy but I hope it doesn’t cost him his big league career, alcohol isn’t worth that.
No offense to the guy, but didn’t he flip his shit in the Yankees clubhouse last season? I hope him the best and all, but not a good sign so far.

I’m all for giving a guy second chances, but from the limited information we get here. It doesn’t look great. I hope he can recognize what alcohol is taking from him.
A drunken woman beater, what could go wrong? Let him hang out with the young kids coming up. The price tag blinded Bob over all the red flags.
These are people. People have vices and make mistakes. It’s not up to a baseball team to develop “good people”. It’s the job of this team to develop “good players.” It doesn’t matter what he does unless it affects his future play. So many people on here want all these good soldiers who use a napkin when eating with their elbows off the table. F-that. We need to win. It’s been too long now, so if he pitches well…. That’s all that matters. Now… if the guy shows up smelling like a whiskey barrel 5 minutes before game time and is puking out in the pen? Then that’s a problem. Until then, everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Funny how a reporter found this out, but a team signing him to a contract didnt.
Let’s Bring in Bauer too, I’m down for the all scumbag team before we trade them away.
