No hip drop tackles, no high hits, no low hits, and absolutely no hitting the QB (unless he’s bad then we won’t call it)

  1. The league is going to shit with shit calls by shit refs, and they decide to make it worse…

  2. I don’t know if this is going to be the one that we’ll look back at as the straw that broke the camel’s back or not, but at some point the gamblers are going to pull back from betting on these games that can be dramatically altered by highly subjective calls. The NFL really needs to take a step back and change their enforcement to be more oriented to the player and the organization rather than the game being played on the field. For example:

    * For “dangerous play” type infractions like targeting, unnecessary roughness, late hits, roughing the passer, hip drop tackles, etc, then player should get something like a yellow or red card, depending on the severity. That’s all that is at stake in the game being played on the field: the player being ejected or not. The outcome of individual snaps and scores will not be affected.
    * Total up dangerous play infractions by player and levy hefty financial penalties and potentially suspensions on the players with the most infractions
    * Total up dangerous play infractions by team and levy hefty draft pick penalties on the teams with the most infractions

  3. I’m not opposed to it in order to protect the players. I think the issue though is the refs implementing it. The first few years of horse collar tackles were called excessively and this will probably be the same.

  4. Also, if your QB is black, he’s a running QB and thus a running back and not eligible for roughing the passer calls.

  5. Guess you will just have to wrap them up instead of going for huge highlight reel hits.
