After another home-ice embarrassment, strong messages are being sent to the Kraken

  1. “The truth is that since the Kraken blew a two-goal lead and lost in overtime to Vegas on March 12, they have been a broken group that has looked ready to hit the golf course. They have not been trying, and it was oddly refreshing to hear Hakstol call it as such on Sunday. For a group that “has a lot of pride,” as we’ve heard constantly, they have not shown it and should be ashamed of the shows they’ve been putting on for the fans that have shelled out thousands of dollars to watch them mail it in at Climate Pledge Arena.”

    “Ashamed” is right.

  2. A day late and a dollar short. Where was the message during our first multi-game losing streak when the playoffs were still in reach?

This is good start. Now fire Hakstol and promote an interim HC for the rest of the season. Let Bylsma take over next year.

  3. Shoot the puck has been a consistent mantra in the comments here as if late. They did that. That doesn’t solve the issue. To be fair, it does seem that much of our puck locations haven’t been around the parameter of the net. Many leg and chest stops that get a SoG, but not much else unless someone is getting a stick deflection. Even our high danger shots are getting swollowed up or blocked without much issue. It kinda of seems like a spray and pray approach, with aiming coming second.

Im all for seeing these young guys get some ice time, but it looks more and more like fundamentals are lacking. Undecisive zone exits, skate passes, poor defensive shifting. I do feel like faceoffs are improving, and zone entries as well, but some other parts of the game are suffering more now. Last night looked like most of a team trying, but failing. Maybe frantically trying even, hence the breakdown of fundamentals.

  4. This is Hak’s team. This attitude and effort is a direct reflection of him.

His coaching and locker room presence allowed this kind of effort to persist.

He needs to take some accountability.

  5. I don’t get a chance to go to games often but I have gone to the three games the Habs have played here. This year I bought a seat right next to the tunnel and behind the bench. I get that the previous two games I’ve seen were earlier in the season but man the whole experience last night felt anemic. It felt over after goal three and then goal four happened and the place became a tomb. It kind of perked back up when the second Kraken goal was scored but immediately died when it was ruled offsides. And then came goal number 5 for the Habs and then the team was just going through the motions. I texted my wife during the second period that with the lopsided shooting the Kraken were making Primeau look like Ken Dryden. The play from the Kraken was just baffling. And there’s Hakstol, standing like a statue, zero emotion, like he’s just there observing. I stayed for the whole thing and got to hear heckling and boos, both of which were deserved. Not sure anything is going to fix this team, which has clearly quit. Hakstol could be fired but at this point I don’t think it would make a difference.

Pros: Daccord was fine, the restroom lines in the Symetra Club level moved quickly during intermission
