Mock draft Monday

Hear me out, just spitballing a different take than the ones we are seeing normally, personally I don’t think this is the route they go.

R1: I still think the most glaring need is CB, but digging deeper into the CBs in this class, the only ones I really love are Terrion Arnold and Wiggins. Great scheme fits for a heavy man/press-man coverage. Arnold has been shooting up the board and the likelihood of him being at 17 is looking slim. Wouldn’t mind Wiggins either and he should fall to us. Armstead was a fantastic pickup but is on the backend of his career with some injury history and no one knows anything about Davon’s injury and whether or not he’s going to be able to return to form. Let’s not kid ourselves, he was a shell of his former self when he came back. If Byron falls to 17, I’m not sure how you pass on him, a bonafide stud next to Josh, Armstead, and Travons got me feeling a little tingly.

R2: With the way the board falls, the receivers will go quick before our 2nd round pick. I’d love to trade up and grab someone like Franklin or (risky) Legette. But, I think Pearsall was a lone bright spot on a struggling Gators team. Smooth route runner, great hands, and a solid playmaker. I could see him filling a Marvin Jones type role nicely.

R3: Depends on who falls, but CB absolutely needs to be addressed in the top 3 rounds. James is a smaller size corner but is comfortable in man coverage and tested well.

Let me know what you think!

  1. I think BPA, taking whoever falls through the cracks, is a great approach to the 1st round. If it’s one of the top corners that would be ideal, but I don’t want to reach. And if it was between him and Wiggins, I’m honestly a bit scared of Wiggins. He’s so small for a press man corner. He wouldn’t be the first player to get overdrafted because of the pajama olympics.

Pearsall is a perfect fit for us in the 2nd. Kirk in the slot, Gabe at X, and him at Z is a well round receiver room.

I don’t like waiting to the 3rd for a corner, but I can stomach it in this scenario.

  2. I wouldn’t mind this, I’m scared of the Florida draftee but I’d be willing to take that risk. You can’t go wrong with DT help

personally I have a few names in mind that I would like at 17

Brian Thomas Jr and Quinyon Mitchell are names that come to mind, but I do have one that I think a lot of Jags wouldn’t like and that’s Chop Robinson. I would love to see a defense where we have Travon, Josh Allen and Chop rushing the passer. Dude is crazy athletic but I understand not wanting him for other needs we have

  3. This is worst case for me, I’d be very unhappy with this haul. Expecting a 3rd round CB to start, a WR I am 100% convinced is a bust, and an undersized DL. Seems likely which is the worst prt

  4. Like stated before I say we take the best DL OL CB or WR on the board. No reaching whoever we feel is the best overall player in okay with
