  1. And yet some in this sub are upset that we didnt sign a few more high profile over paid free agents this year

  2. That doesn’t sound ideal, but at least we aren’t projected to be 70 million over next year like the Saints.

  3. How do we have no cap space? We cleared a bunch of cap and basically signed no deals worth more than $6.7m in free agency. Leonard Williams deal is only a $10m hit this year. Tyler Lockett got a restructure.

And despite taking all of the dead money from Adams this year we only have $1.9m in cap space for next year.

We have very little cap space in 2024 and 2025 and the only players we are paying serious money are Geno Smith (#17 highest paid QB), Tyler Lockett (#20 highest paid WR), DK Metcalf (#6 highest paid WR), Leonard Williams (#9 DT), Dre Mont Jones (#15 DT), Uchenna (#19 Edge), Fant (#11 TE), Love (#23 safety).

DK’s deal is the only one close to top of the market and it certainly feels like other teams have multiple guys on top of the market deals + a lot more in the QB position.

Chiefs for example spend $20m more apy at QB and have #4 TE, #1 RT, #1 DT, #5 LG, #4 CB, #11 Safety and they have more cap space left this year and $50m next year.

So why does it always feel like we have no cap space relative to the deals we give out?

  4. Assuming no more free agent signings, we are set to receive two compensatory picks in the 2025 draft, a 4th for Lewis and a 5th for Brooks. I can’t remember the last time we received a comp pick

  5. All.good, they spent what they could. Much better than being cheap and not spending at all.
