What the fuck, literally right after the Ohtani stuff in baseball.
If he’s getting pulled after a few mins to hit unders are we thinking it’s just him faking an injury, a larger structural thing involving coaching and medical staff, or just coincidence
LMAOOO well this was quite an interesting read. But wouldn’t this mean he’s faking an injury? At the same time wouldn’t the medical staff know he’s faking the injury though so like
> The next day, as part of a daily report to users on betting results, DraftKings Sportsbook reported that the under on Porter’s 3-pointers was the biggest money winner for bettors of any NBA player props from games that evening.
Definitely suspect, especially the second one where he left with a mysterious illness after 3 minutes. Innocent until proven guilty but it’ll be interesting to see what comes of it
Porter brothers are all time morons
So bet the under then take a half day basically
Damn. I should have smashed those unders.
Rudy Gobert just got fined $100k last week for saying sports betting is becoming too ingrained in the sport. He was 100% right
Wow, a league that is actively promoting gambling at every chance they can, and has swept referees fixing games in the past under the rug, may have a gambling problem. Color me surprised.
Dang first MLB has a betting scandal then the next week it’s the NBA lol
Jontay Ohtani
Jesus. Get with the times and blame it on an interpreter
If you’re betting on Jontay Porter props and don’t have inside info go ahead and call the number
And you can bet on the over/under for the length of his suspension sponsored by FanDuel!
I’m curious if this kind of stuff (Johntay Porter, Isaiah Rodgers) is only now an issue with legalized gambling, or if this has always been going on and is now easier to catch because sportsbooks are subject to regulations.
Very easy to demonize legalized sports betting here, but it’s not like it didn’t exist before 2018. It’s much easier to catch irregular betting patterns on a regulated site like DraftKings than it is on an offshore, unregulated site.
Dude finally finds an NBA team that he can stick with and does this shit?? No cure for stupidity lol Porter family curse.
you’re a real sicko if you’re betting on jontay porter, which probably exposed the scandal
This could seriously be one of the biggest stories Woj,Windhorst, and others ever broke. A NBA player literally re-injured himself just to get more money off of bets is fucking insanity. Like now we may have to start questioning all kinds of injuries, whole integrity of players is at stake right now.
This article brought to you by DraftKings!
If there is *any* actual *proof* he’s in on it this will be a guaranteed lifetime ban. Have to make an example of the first guy that’s caught. NBA got lucky it’s a nobody on a bad team.
With the eye injury being aggravated again, how known was it he’d had one the game prior? That’s the one way I could see betting the under hard there could make sense knowing there’s a risk he gets pulled.
Overall though not looking good. For all the shit we give MPJ turns out he’s the smartest member of his family by a mile, Jesus.
there is zero fucking doubt in my mind “friends of friends” are betting in collusion with at least a few professional players across the major leagues. probably a few players in the NBA at least.
IMO DraftKings should flag any sicko that bets on a goddamn Jontay Porter prop bet.
These people need Jesus.
It would be *really* shocking for bettors to just happen to put a lot of $ on unders for a lower-impact player like Jontay Porter and have those hit as the biggest on the night, multiple times. Like that pretty strongly points to insider betting.
That said, it may not necessarily be Jontay himself. Could be that there’s someone he talks to — a family member, a trainer, a girlfriend, a homie — who he said something like “my eye’s been bugging me. I’m going to give it a go tonight but I might call it after my first shift” to, and then they put word out to their betting ring to take the unders.
shit we got our own shohei after all
Even offering single game Jontay Porter prop bets feels like it’s part of a sting
Underutilized talent. Guy should have been a ref
I’m pretty okay w betting sites losing money like this
Not gonna name names. My cousin played soccer profesionally in europe, 20+ years ago. Made it to the english premier league, one of its better teams. The stories he told me in confidence… Sports gambling should be banned. There were players, footballers specifically including my cousin, who did a lot of shady stuff to influence outcomes. Also, some players do it willingly. Others are coerced. Others are extorted, often by organized crime.
Great now do the refs.
This investigation is brought to you by DraftKings
But guys no referee would EVER do this…
Right?
Kind of stupid to try to rig such a low volume bet
Toronto should definitely be punished for this. I think it’s only fair they forfeit the protections they have on their traded draft picks.
who ever thought that could happen? not me
Putting $100 on the under on whoever is starting in Detroit without Cade and Duren
