  1. Before seeing this image, I assumed every team was matched up with one single African country.  Seeing the reality made me laugh out loud.

  2. Maybe because our Pro Bowl tight end is a first generation American born to Nigerian parents. Might have expected Ghana with JOK’s wardrobe selections, but the Eagles there.

More reason to pound them in Brazil and steal the fans of a country larger than the USA.

  3. 213M population and largest GDP amongst African nations.. As opposed to 32M in Ghana. Browns probably opted for exclusive rights in that larger country vs a couple shared/non exclusive rights in several countries.

  4. Should have got Australia so I had something to be happy about after years of being made fun of for being a diehard browns fan.

  5. Might have chosen an African country because of the work Myles has done with Waterboys?

  6. At least the bungle and ratbird scourge have both been contained within the US borders.

Sad to see so much ~~herpes~~ steelers logos

  7. Hard to find a good explanation of exactly what it is, but this was the closest to an explanation:

“NFL clubs can apply for rights to selected international markets by submitting proposals for the International Committee to review each spring. Clubs are awarded rights for at least a five-year term through the program. During this period, a club has the rights to pursue activities in that international market that are largely consistent with what they can do in their home market.”

I’m assuming that just means teams can pay for the rights to market their teams in other countries. Seems weird that the league can control that sort of thing though.

  8. Are you sure the Browns are actually there or did it just say so in a random email from a Nigerian Prince? He was promising to put the Browns on every TV in Nigeria if you’d just send him $6800 by cashier’s check. Help the guy out

  9. This is a good thing, Nigeria has a huge population and they produce a lot of stellar athletes. Their soccer national team is among the best in Africa for what it’s worth. If they get one guy that ends up on the roster from this it’s a big win.

  10. So we get Nigeria and that’s it? While the Steelers get Mexico, Germany and Northern Ireland??? We probably had those until New York got a whiny px from JJ.

  11. It’s something teams have to apply for the rights to it’s not really just a popular teams in markets thing

  12. I assume this program lets us exploit our marketing rights as a team more freely in the country? Or perhaps distribute our content there in different ways?

If it’s about the business, I think this is great: we have two star players with family ties to West Africa (tho not sure if Ghanaian roots will make JOK popular in Nigeria – esp if he starts saying who makes better jollof), and Nigeria is obviously an enormous and fast growing media market. It’d be awesome to build a fanbase over there!

  13. How the hell is Joe Thomas going to Munich and the Browns not blanketing Germany with Browns gear.

  14. I just realized the Chargers have so few fans that they arnt even on the list but the Rams get the entire continent of Asia

  15. It”s really dependent on the market and players they have. We have JOK and Njoku so the NFL set us up with a country that applies to our roster and the fans they think they can bring in.

  16. The Global Markets Program (GMP), first launched in 2022, awards NFL clubs international marketing rights to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the U.S., through fan engagement, events and commercial opportunities, consistent with their home markets.

Found this on the Miami Dolphins website (just random google search).

  17. Someone please post one of those “plastic water bottle art” chat gpt images (you know the ones) but with brownie the elf

  18. Nigeria is the most populous country in Nigeria and the 7th most populous country in the world.
