  1. This guy has needed surgery since the last shift of the first game and this sub has just absolutely bashed him all season.

Hes a good player who was playing injured because we had soooo many other injuries

  2. Good for him. He was getting better with avoiding penalties under Roy. Let’s hope the surgery/rehab/training will generate positive results.

  3. good player who had a bad year. it happens, hopefully it’s a smooth recovery and he comes back much much better than this year. most fans want him off the team but realistically that’s not happening (this isn’t chel), so all we can do is hope the best for him in the future.

  4. Playing injured is such an unseen part of the NHL (And I’m sure other sports). I’ve always defended Mayfield, not that he is like god’s gift to defense, but that he was far better than fans gave him credit for (outside the stupid penalties which everyone was spot on with). He didn’t look like himself when he came back earlier this season and I assumed this was why.

  5. Mayfield’s biggest problem was all the penalties, but it didn’t help that can’t PK for shit so he always got roasted on here.

You know who’s mistakes actually end up directly costing us goals against? Dobson. And I never hear a peep about him.

  6. Remember when it was all his fault that we sucked? Well what was false. We suck without him 🤷🏻‍♂️

  7. That explains a lot. I’m curious if any other players are playing hurt to explain some of the steep declines in performance.

  8. If he was playing THAT hurt, shame on the team and shame on him.
He clearly wasn’t doing the team any good by playing and the team wasn’t doing him any good in delaying treatment and rehab.

As fans, we only see what’s on the ice and what the team allows us to see. What I saw on the ice was a liability. I didn’t and couldn’t know he was still injured.

  9. So is this the team officially waving the white flag on the season? If he was playing through the injury to this point it makes no sense that he wouldn’t get the surgery earlier unless he wanted to try and be available for playoffs etc.
