  1. Vikings fan here.

He’s a solid kicker! He definitely struggles on the 50+ ones, and will miss an occasional extra point for whatever reason. But he’s steady and reliable overall. I’m bummed we didn’t bring him back.

  2. 1 year/1.295M

This is Carlson’s competition this year. Let’s see if he can step up.

  3. Hopefully this lights a fire under Carlson’s ass, and if not, we have a new kicker

  4. Hmmmmm… that’s an interesting move. Definitely not the most accurate kicker, but a veteran leg to compete with Carlson.

  5. Ha! Gotcha Minnesota! You take the heart and soul of our team, we take your kicker!

  6. what is the guarantees if he’s cut before season starts? idk the point of rostering 2 kickers, and the extra mill could’ve been spent elsewhere

  7. “The Green Bay Packers are signing my client Greg Joseph who kicked for the Minnesota Vikings the past 3 seasons. Holds the NFL record for game-winners in a season (5), Vikings record for longest FG (61 yds), & led NFL in TB% in ’21. Had other interest but liked this opportunity.” – per Greg Joseph’s agent Brett Tessler

  8. Meh this won’t exactly be a massive improvement but maybe it’ll turn out like the last time a Minnesota kicker went to a team with Rich Bisaccia as special teams coordinator.

  9. Hot take: Carlson is absolutely fine. His numbers were better than Crosby’s rookie year.

Kicking isn’t just in the kicker, it requires perfect execution from the snapper/holder, too. I get bringing in competition, but Joseph wasn’t even better than Carlson last year.

Carlson beats him out before the end of training camp and I’ll bet exactly $1 on that

  10. Gutekunst is realizing that they fast forwarded through their rebuild and doesn’t want breaking in a young kicker to eff it up.

  11. We need kickers that have a decent chance of nailing kicks from 50+. Not two kickers that miss from there consistently

  12. I’m glad they low-balled Aaron Jones so they could spend that money where it was really needed.
