Shoutout to Calvin Ridley’s girlfriend

Shoutout to Calvin Ridley’s girlfriend

  1. Robert Kraft says the #Patriots were willing to match Calvin Ridley’s top offer, but Ridley’s girlfriend wanted him to remain in the south.

“It was made clear his girlfriend wanted to be in the south. … He didn’t want to be in the northeast.”

  2. Not even a homer take, but the Titans are better than the Patriots as well. He’ll thrive here.

  3. Kraft also mentioned that the QB situation may have played a part.

Billy Jeans starting the off-season with a W.

  4. I mean it’s not even a debate when it comes to taxes and the weather than TN is the better landing spot as compared to Boston. Minus the occasional nader that is.

  5. > The “girlfriend” Kraft is referring to is actual Ridley’s wife, Dominique Fitchard, who he has two daughters with.

I mean, I imagine it’s an honest mistake on Kraft’s part, just misremembering their relationship. But … comes off rather belittling. “His girlfriend wanted him to stay in the South” sounds a lot different than “His wife, with whom he has two children, wanted the family to stay closer to home.”

Also, if you, as an owner, really want to say that’s the reason for something as a way to deflect from the fact that your franchise is not an appealing spot for an FA at the moment, just be classier and say something like “got the impression that personal or family reasons also played into the decision.” Don’t out a player’s SO as the reason Ridley isn’t on your team, especially to a bunch of fucking Boston sports fans.
