  1. This is huge. Gives the Texans a little over $20m in cap space now. Texans could still cut a couple end of bench players to open up another $8-10m if needed

  2. I don’t really keep up with draft space.

Creating more cap space for a big signing?

  3. We have to be preparing for a couple big signings. I think this is what kept a lot of coaches in Houston this year. Knowing we were going to make the moves to be competitive this year. Not think of it like another building year. Happy to see all the pieces falling in place.

  4. So, do we just kick the can down the road or what are the consequences of the restructuring?

  5. We need another CB. A shut down corner or as close as we can get for the money. With a good secondary and the pash rush we’re gonna have, we’ll get more picks

  6. Someone please educate me why you don’t convert all base salaries into a signing bonus? It frees up cap space and doesnt seem like anyone is losing anything. The only negative I can think of is potentially cutting someone but maybe that’s the reason.

  7. Is it possible that they are targeting a free agent signing soon? Maybe.. More likely this is a prerequisite for some contingency planning.

Such as, if Nick does a player trade in the draft, gotta have the cash to pull that off.

If Nick wants to trade for a player now with one of our 2nds, gotta have the cash to take that contract on.

  8. This was done awhile ago, we just didn’t know the amount of cap space it created at the time.

  9. If we really want a Keenan Allen type of guy, I don’t know of a better next option than Nuke… Just sayin…
