  1. We need some info on that steady rise between the 1940s and 1960. I’m suspecting the role of advertising between innings on TV and radio.

  2. The drop during WWII is interesting. Anyone have an explanation for that? I know some guys went to war and maybe the overall quality of play dropped…but if anything I’d expect that to slightly advantage the offenses and lengthen games.

Guessing the rise after WWII is an increase in radio’s prominence as a revenue stream – so let’s add time between innings for ads. And then start mixing in TV as well.

  3. Best thing every happened to me watching. Now I know it’s exactly 2 minutes between half innings, I wait about a half hour to tune in and I hit fast forward that amount every half innings. Most games I don’t miss a pitch in under 2 hours.

  4. I love the pitch clock. Didn’t think I would, but it has absolutely improved the experience of watching a game. Theres a nice rhythm to it now.

  5. Look at the chart. I remember Baseball America front page articles on the excessive length of games.
