I think causals might have gotten sick of the same ole? Idk. I wonder what other reasons for that decline could be.
Edit: Kaepernick kneeled in 2016 so maybe a bunch of *very dumb* people stopped watching for a while specifically because of that

The NFL has done a great job with their scheduling especially with forcing division matchups at the end of the season and allowing more flexing to optimize viewership.
Example being when they flexed Houston/Denver to the 12 pm slot to maximize viewership for both their game and also the SF/Philly game in the late slot back in December.
I’m not saying it’s all bc of CJ but….
