[Rosenthal and Heyman] Free-agent left-hander Jordan Montgomery in agreement with Diamondbacks, pending physical. Deal will pay him $25M this season, includes vesting player option for second year. Montgomery needs to start 10 games in 2024 for the second year to vest

  15. When it’s all said and done he’s a #4 starter. Just like Rodon and Cortes and Schmidt. We don’t need a 4th #4. With Cole out we have a solid 3 in Stromam with #2 upside and #1 bulldog mentality. Might as well give the kids a shot at 5 and see what happens. Could be a disaster but with Cashman and his genius moves have put us where we are at. We need money for Soto next year so this year we sweat it out and hope one or two young arms make it. With no clear game changer available it’s all we can do. Hope we can out score teams for once.
