I’m not an expert, just a fan watching, but I agree with Auston here. It appeared as though they got overconfident with how far they were outplaying the Devils and lost focus. The Devils capitalized and stayed hungry and we let breakdowns happen. That’s immature.
Couple the above with the fact that our goalie struggled, and their goalie stood on their head and we got beat. Rather, we beat ourselves. Frustrating. That can’t happen in the playoffs.
No worries. All done next month.
That’s Captain material right there. JT is busy learning lessons but Matthews knows the correct diagnosis.
Just watched the keefe media availability and he called their game “immature” too, then went on to blame newer players for mistakes in the game
Yeah fucking embarrassing effort against a beatable team
I agree. This season/playoffs will be over soon though.
They pushed the play so hard in the offensive zone that they had prolonged shifts that resulted in giving up rush opportunities with tired back checkers who didn’t pick up assignments or just were too tired to do so properly. Sure they could’ve had more than 3 tonight but the Devils made them pay and that’s on the Leafs for some very poor defensive play.
