My Frank Gore card pictures and back story!

So in an earlier thread a member asked what our rarest 49er item is and a few others seemed to like what my reply was. So I decided to make a thread with the backstory and pictures.

So after Gore’s breakout 2006 season I (like a lot of us) became a big fan. Grabbed up his jersey and headed to training camp wearing number 21 and had a Rookie jersey card I wanted him to sign.

Near the end of practice I was over near the spot where the players walk back to the locker room after practice and sign autographs on their way back in.

I see Gore walking by and I notice a huge cast covering his right hand and wrist and I think “dang, he can’t sign.” I figured what the heck and said hey Frank can you please sign my card and he kinda sighed and held up his right arm. Pointed at the cast and said something along the lines of “dang. I’d love too but I have this cast on and can’t sign”. I was a little disappointed but it was totally understandable. Was cool just to say hey and chat with him.

He could tell I was disappointed and not wanting to disappoint me or other fans. He said “you know what. Lemme see that card”. I handed it to him and he awkwardly held it with his cast hand. Grabbed the pen and he started signing it left handed! I was totally blown away by his love for the game and the fans. He was having such a hard time signing it lefty and gave it back to me and he almost felt bad. He said something along the lines of “I’m sorry man. It’s not the best”. I was totally appreciative. Thanked him and we went on our way.

I know right after me he got a couple more people with the same left handed auto.

Now this is sloppy and not the best pics due to the reflective card and lighting.

I’d probably never be able to authenticate this or prove it was him. But it really was.

I’ll probably never sell this thing.

Enjoy the back story and the pics!
