To everyone doubting picking Shane Wright this quote off YouTube is bang on.

Ok and Wright is still in the AHL and the first overall pic from Wright’s year, despite a slow start to the year, just set the franchise record for points in a season from a teenager for one of the oldest franchises in hockey and looks like he has the potential to be a PPG power forward in a couple of years. Literally everyone in the Canadiens sub now loves him and is really glad they picked him over Wright.
Obviously I want Wright to succeed and I’m not saying Wright *will* be bad or that we’ll regret the pick but the NHL is a totally different beast and it’s super hard to tell how someone is gonna turn out.
Whatever comes of Wrights career I hope we’re not always comparing him to Slafkovsky. From a kraken perspective we never had a chance to draft Juraj, Cooley or Nemec. He was the obvious choice at #4.
COVID really did a number on youth sports in all levels of every sport. We are still seeing the ripple effects.
The season has been disappointing but Wright is not one of the reasons.
