The Sox have five RHP starters, and seven of their eight relievers are RHP. At least Kenley is a switch hitter. So lopsided

  1. 10% of the population is left handed. Left handed pitchers make up 25% of league pitchers. Some parents teach their right handed kids to bat left and some find it easier but if done wrong it can be abusive. Devers, Casas, and Duran sign autographs with their right hand and don’t need left handed gloves when fielding. This option for pitchers is much more difficult but there are exceptions to the rule. Snell is a natural righty. ERod broke his right arm at 8 years old and became more comfortable with his left side. I do not recommend breaking kids arms to solve this problem. It’s just not something a team can really control unless they make an effort to draft left handers but this organization has ignored pitching and prioritized middle infielders.

Edit: The Red Sox have a ton of left handed hitters but only Abreu wears a left handed glove. The top three prospects all field right handed too despite hitting left handed.

  2. My kid is a lefty and I’m just thinking “oh yeah we’re gonna teach you to pitch”

  3. Do you guys think that the CBO, himself a former left handed pitcher, hasn’t thought about this?

Isaiah Campbell, who is right handed, is a lefty killer. Seriously, check out his splits.

  4. It honestly looks like a 5-year-old drafted this roster. It just seems wrong not having a lefty starter to root for at Fenway.

  5. This is what happens when you take your hands off the wheel for a couple off seasons
