[Menon] Since 2011, here’s how much draft value each team has gained or loss from pure pick for pick trades (not involving trading any player) using values from the Fitzgerald-Spielberger draft chart (Browns are #1)

  1. So teams are willing to pay the Browns more for their picks. The other team might be assuming the Browns pick will be better than it ends up being.

  2. Yes, the Browns have gotten mad value for trading back. The draft team does a great job appraising the other teams and make smart moves that have still yielded targeted players(Delpit) and added value with extra pick 160(Harris)

Edit: I want to see the AB Era only… Holy smokes this goes back 2011…

  3. Shame that we were so great at trading but so shit at evaluating talent over that time. Seriously the Browns first round drafting from 2011 to 2016 was so embarrassingly bad it’s hard to even quantify.

    2011 – Phil Taylor

2012 – Trent Richardson, Brandon Weeden

    2013 – Barkevious Mingo

2014 – Justin Gilbert, Johnny Manziel

2015 – Danny Shelton, Cameron Erving

    2016 – Corey Coleman

Gets better after that but Jesus Christ. No amount of good trading will fix a scouting process that terrible.

  4. Rams went in big but got a Super Bowl. Not blaming the author but that’s kind of a huge detail for context
