Yes. We don’t live in Slovakia, so it’s hard to truly appreciate this but I mean to be a national star at 19, and to not have a chip on your shoulder, requires a level of mental maturity that is rare. There is a reason why its such a huge part of the draft evaluation.
I was super anti the Slaf pick. I thought his shooting % at the Olympics was unsustainable and I really questioned his hockey IQ.
Glad to be proven wrong. I underestimated his compete and drive to improve himself, which is the most important thing for a young guy. Giving the scouting department the benefit of the doubt for these high picks until proven otherwise.
