  1. The former [Houston Astros](https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/) fan favorite—who made a pair of All-Star Game appearances during his time with the team, while serving as a behind-the-scenes leader for the franchise’s 2022 World Series title run—will throw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of Thursday’s [Opening Day](https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/astros-predictions-alex-bregman-19354800.php) festivities.

Brantley will be joined in the pregame festivities by multi-platinum rapper and Houston resident 50 Cent, who is handling the “Play Ball” call, with Nashville recording artist, TV host and native Houstonian Julia Cole singing the National Anthem prior to the Astros’ season opener against the New York Yankees.

  2. If his shoulder is good enough for the first pitch, I want him on opening day roster
