Which team would win in a 7 game series, assuming everyone was healthy? (Repost because I made a mistake)

Freddie Freeman was born and raised in LA to Canadian Parents. I put him on team World because he plays for team Canada in the WBC

  1. Swap Altuve and Betts. With all due respect, I believe Betts is more marketable than Altuve.

Also, I feel like the PR team has a good chance to win this. Lots of well-known anf likely future HOFers in the 50 states + DC team, but World + PR team has the clutch factor, imo

  2. SP: Cole > Ohtani (but injuries/age factor)
    C: Rutsch > Contreras
    1B: Freeman > Goldy
    2B: Betts > Altuve
    3B: JRam > Arenado
    SS: Seager > Lindor (recently)
    LF: Soto > Carrol
    CF: Acuna > Trout
    RF: Judge > Tatis
    DH: Ohtani > Harper

I score it a tie, but your question is a 7 game series and I like the international pitching depth over US pitching depth. 4-3 Ints.

  3. Boring answer, but these would (obviously) be two very good teams, and in a 7-game series, either team could easily win.

Over the course of a full season, I would expect the World team to have a better record.

  4. I know Freddie Freeman plays for Canada because of his mom but I think he should be on the US team here and it would make for a better series. Also if Freddie isn’t the 1st baseman it should be Matt Olson.

  5. USA, Cole has the engine to pitch a tough, full 9 inning game more so than Ohtani. Honestly, the lineup is sort of irrelevant since each team only gets one pitcher.

  6. USA. This chart is extremely close but when you look at the pitching depth not shown, it’s USA. Assuming a 4 man rotation

USA runs probably Cole-Strider-Burnes-Wheeler but also have Snell, Gausman, Kirby, Gallen, Nola to choose from. In the pen they have Devin Williams, Bednar, Helsey, Evan Phillips and more.

International team has just as good or maybe slightly better relievers. Their rotation wouldn’t be as strong: Ohtani-Castillo-Lopez and then would choose between Freddy Peralta, Yamamoto, Framber Valdez and Jesus Luzardo.

Great pitchers internationally but not the wealth of riches the US has. You’re talking possibly having to face BOTH Cy Young winners in the same game then facing a top 5 closer in the 9th

  7. I mean the US couldn’t beat a team of players from Japan now they have to play against all of the best international players in the world

  8. I think we need the other starting pitchers to confirm but myself think the us would take it in 7

  9. I’d want different players than Goldschmidt and Arenado. Both past their prime.

  10. Nolan Arenado isn’t the best American born third baseman. He’s third maybe

  11. Team USA here. I’m not opposed to Shohei as DH, but is he the best pitcher born outside the US? I mean, he’s one of the best players in the world (probably *the* best), but is he a better pitcher than anyone born outside the US?
