Quick question about centerman Ivan Ivan

Great name btw.

His dobber hockey profile had an update that included the following quote:
" Due to his contract he won’t be seeing any call-up duty in 2023-24, however he in on track to earn decent minutes in the AHL which is always a good first step towards producing. Ivan racked up his fair share of PIMs in the Q so any fantasy future is most likely in multi-cat formats, but at this stage he is a “wait and see” name for your lists."

Can anyone explain to me why his contract would not allow for him to be called up? Is his contract different from other players that are signed to avalanche contracts?

From this link, in the last player note of his from September:

Thanks

  1. His contract this year is a one-way AHL deal that is owned by the Eagles and not the Avs. His new contract is a two-way deal which is held by the Avs but allows him to play in both the AHL and NHL. He will earn different amounts depending upon if he is up in the NHL or in the AHL next year.
